You’re capable of emotional stability. But detachment can look like maturity when it’s actually avoidance.
The calm is real. Some of it is a wall with good manners.
You stay calm when others do not and it is valued. Some of the calm is composure. Some of it is not letting anything in.
What at work should have bothered you this month and did not?
Say the honest reaction to one thing this week, out loud, at normal volume.
You handle money without drama and call that maturity. Check whether it is maturity or a decision not to look at what the money is for.
What money conversation have you stayed calm through that deserved a reaction?
Have that reaction this week, with the person it belongs to.
You are the steady one, and they lean on it. They also cannot reach you, and they have stopped trying, and you are calling that peace.
What have you not told them because telling them would disturb the calm?
Tell them one unsteady thing tonight.
You are deciding with detachment and calling it clarity. Detachment removes the noise. It also removes the part of you that has to live with the result.
What do you actually want here, underneath the reasonable analysis?
Write the wanting down before you decide, and let it count.
You have your feelings under control. Under control has started to mean out of reach.
When did you last feel something without immediately managing it?
Let one feeling run for an hour this week without fixing, framing or explaining it.
The work is composed, controlled, tasteful. It has stopped risking anything, and taste is what you call the risk you are not taking.
What would you make if it were allowed to be too much?
Make the too-much version this week and do not tidy it.
